APCR Standing Committees: 2026-2027
The members of the Standing Committees of the Association of Program Coordinators in Radiology (APCR) are chosen by the President. Unless otherwise specified, the term for all committee appointments is one year, with eligibility for reappointment annually for a period of five years.
ASSOCIATION OF PROGRAM COORDINATORS IN RADIOLOGY
Description of Standing Committees
AWARDS Chair: Sheori Sinegal [email protected]
The function of this committee is to determine the nature and recipients of any and all awards and honors established in the name of the Association.
The Outstanding Coordinator Award is given to an individual who has shown dedication to the success of the APCR. Candidates may be nominated by the APCR membership at large only. The Awards Committee may select a candidate for the award who is an active member of the Association.
The APDR Award of Program Coordinator Excellence recognizes outstanding contributions to graduate medical education and radiology by APCR members. This prestigious award is presented annually to one individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and effectiveness in their role. Program Directors, Department Chairs, Residents, and Fellows can nominate an APCR member for this award. The APCR awards committee will assist the APDR in the selection process of this award and arrange for presentation of this award at APCR annual member meeting 1.
The awards committee may also develop and create awards for members with final approval of the APCR President. The awards committee will determine the nomination process, procurement of the awards to present to the winners, and when announcement of winners will take place.
ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS Chair: Missi Varner: [email protected] The Electronic Communications Committee is responsible for developing and updating the content of the APCR website and functions as the liaison with the APDR for maintenance of the website. The electronic communications committee is responsible for development of zoom links and management of APCR webinars. The electronic communications committee is also responsible for the submission of emails to be sent out to APCR members, with the approval of the APCR President. Within the committee, there are three subcommittees: Archives, Social Media and Surveys. The Electronic Communications Committee chair(s) will appoint the archives, social media and survey subcommittee chairs.
- Archives Subcommittee
Chair: LaToya Wright: [email protected] The archives subcommittee will consist of a chairperson that is responsible for maintaining and building the Association's archives on the website, taking photos of the events at the annual meeting and the Association file sharing program.
- Social Media Subcommittee
Chair: Missi Varner: [email protected] The social media subcommittee consists of a chairperson (who serves as the social media manager) and members who creates and monitors content for the Radiology Program Coordinators Group on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Twitter.
- Survey Subcommittee
Chair: Melinda Parangan-Chu: [email protected] Co-Chair: Jasmine Allen: [email protected] The survey subcommittee will administer all survey requests from members. The survey subcommittee will send surveys to members on a semi annual basis to gather beneficial data to help improve the APCR and email/post all survey results for members on the website. The subcommittee may assist with a pre and post surveys to gather data for the annual meeting at the President-elect’s request.
FELLOWSHIP Chair: Allendice Young: [email protected] The Fellowship Committee communicates with fellowship coordinators on ways to improve fellowship programs, to prepare for upcoming changes and challenges, and to network with one another. The committee responds to specific fellowship issues regarding ACGME updates such as the Milestones, the self-study and site visits. The Fellowship committee also helps with foundation course series webinars during the year and hosts other webinars pertaining to fellowship topics during the year.
IR PROGRAMS Co-Chairs: Ranitta McDowell & Samantha Schnitzer [email protected] & [email protected] The purpose of the IR Programs Committee is to serve as a collaborative resource and guiding body within the APCR on IR-related matters. The committee will act as a central hub for addressing questions related to IR and ESIR, while also fostering the development and implementation of innovative ideas to enhance coordination of IR programs and educational initiatives.
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Chair: Amanda Hicks: [email protected] Co-Chair: Stephen Jones: [email protected] The mission of the Leadership Development Committee is to support and develop APCR members who supervise direct reports, as well as those interested in pursuing leadership roles within the organization, including service on the APCR Board of Directors and as APCR Committee Chairs. This Committee will serve as a collaborative resource by facilitating member discussions to share best practices, developing and hosting leadership-focused webinars, and supporting roundtables and other leadership development activities at AAR Annual Meeting events.
MEMBERSHIP Chair: Angela Huff: [email protected] Co-Chair: Bridget Flaherty: [email protected] The Membership Committee will work with the association management company to maintain an accurate membership database/mailing list. The Membership Committee will encourage and facilitate the recruitment of new members. In addition, the membership committee is responsible for the announcement of new members at the APCR member meeting 1 at the annual AAR meeting. The Membership Committee shall furnish APDR management and the APDR liaison membership data as may be required. The Membership committee, along with the mentorship and professional development committees and President-elect, is responsible for the development of the Meet and Greet/Welcome celebration at the annual meeting. The membership committee, along with the mentorship committee, is also responsible for the quarterly foundation course webinars for APCR members.
MENTORING Chair: Jasmine Allen: [email protected] Co-Chair: Angela Callens: [email protected] This committee is responsible for maintaining the mentor program available within the Association, pairing volunteered mentors with members who have requested a mentor. The mentorship committee, along with the membership and professional development committees and President- elect, is responsible for the development of the Meet and Greet/Welcome celebration at the annual meeting. The mentorship committee, along with the membership committee, is also responsible for the quarterly foundation course webinars for APCR members.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Chair: Susan Lamey: [email protected] Co-Chair: Harmony Claus: [email protected] This committee is charged with collection and dissemination of data relating to career and professional development and, with the approval of the Board of Directors, may undertake projects to further the professional development of APCR members. The professional development committee is responsible for the development of the semi annual newsletter, providing webinars regarding professional development, and planning and hosting, along with the President elect, the APCR luncheon activities. The professional development committee, along with the membership and mentorship committees and President-elect, is responsible for the development of the Meet and Greet/Welcome celebration at the annual meeting.
SCHOLARSHIP Chair: Ranitta McDowell: [email protected] This committee is responsible for oversight of the APCR Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Committee shall be responsible for the administration and oversight of the APCR Scholarship Fund. Each year, the committee shall review all submitted scholarship applications and, with the approval of the APCR Board of Directors, select two recipients who meet the established eligibility requirements and selection criteria.
To be eligible, applicants must be current members of APCR and demonstrate financial need. Each selected recipient may receive up to $3,000 in the form of reimbursed expenses to support in-person attendance at the annual AAR meeting. Reimbursable expenses may include, but are not limited to, meeting registration fees, travel, lodging, and other related costs. Meals for which food has been provided by the AAR/APCR will not be eligible for reimbursement.
Sitting officers of APCR are not eligible to receive scholarship funding.
WELLNESS Chair: Melinda Parangan-Chu: [email protected] This committee’s mission is to encourage and empower a movement in cultivating positive changes in the growth of wellness for coordinators and all those they support within their residency programs. The wellness committee provides webinars regarding wellness topics during the year and can develop wellness activities for members to participate in during the year and at the annual meeting.
